Description

  • This bridge program will certify you in the Canadian Red Cross's national Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Program which educates you to an EMR’s scope of practice. This course is primarily for Fire Fighters and Law Enforcement personnel who do not require registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics or will be seeking EMR registration outside of Alberta. This program follows the National Occupational Competency Profiles (NOCP) as defined by the Paramedic Association of Canada. The Canadian Red Cross's national Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Program is approved in many provinces across Canada but not in Alberta at this time. If you are wanting to become an EMR in Alberta, you will instead need to take a program recognized by the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Already certified in Advanced First Aid and looking to boost your resume? Are you wanting to register as an EMR in BC or Saskatchewan? Then this is the bridge program for you!

If you are wanting to register as an EMR outside Alberta where the Canadian Red Cross's EMR program is approved, please ensure you reference and check that Province's registration guidelines and requirements for EMRs.
